Woolworths Baby & Toddler Club recipes

This post is brought to by Woolworths Baby & Toddler Club

True story. I shared a picture of Emerson on Instagram after I?d fed him one of his first meals. He was covered in sweet potato and looked adorable. I love a good baby feeding photo to show them when they?re older. But I didn?t think that someone would comment and suggest I google another way to introduce solids to my baby. Yes, they told me to google it. I was a bit offended at first but now I?m just guessing that she thought I was a first time mum and she was offering some good advice.

Thankfully Woolworths just asked me to try out a baby food recipe from their Baby & Toddler club website (rather than a new method of introducing solids to a baby like on instagram).?And there are lots of recipes to choose on the website and I?was very impressed. ?I?m a bit of a mixed bag when it comes to making baby food. The twins were almost exclusively on homemade baby food because we just went through so much of it and times were really tight. It would have cost me an absolute fortune to buy them sachets and jars and Finn was a huge eater. At the time we were spending a lot of time at home so it was easier.

And I do find it sastisfying to make baby food and see my freezer well stocked up but I?m not as passionate as some mums who make their own baby food and make lots of different combinations. I?m a bit old school.? Before my Thermomix I?d just pop a few different things like a couple of vegies and a bit of chicken, boil it, puree it and freeze it. I generally do 2-3 dishes at once and there is nothing wrong with mixing 2 dishes together. Oh and a little tip is?not to?go overboard with the sweet potato ? I really loved it but now none of my 4 kids will eat it. I think it was overkill.

?Emerson had only tried broccoli once so I made the Avocado with pumpkin and broccoli. Emerson loved it????but then he loves everything. Look at the size of him.

Another tip is trying to make things that everyone can eat to save yourself time and make things easier for yourself. Tuna macaroni, chicken and vegetables, simple meatballs, boiled vegetables, apple sauce and custard. My little ones always love pureed apple with some custard or yoghurt swirled through to look all pretty.

?Now I also took it upon myself to try out one of the family recipes on the Woolworths Baby & Toddler Club website. I?m in a bit of a rut at the moment when it comes to meal time. It doesn?t help when you?re living upstairs in 2 rooms and the kitchen is downstairs. So I did the asparagus risotto with chicken. Delicious ? just add some mustard and lemon juice to the chicken breasts while they are cooking. Retro daddy was impressed with it for his Sunday night dinner which can occasionally be an omelette, fish fingers or a toasted sandwich.

?I?ve just joined up the Woolworths Baby & Toddlers club and you can join here too. You get discounts, news and advice and I?m very impressed with the recipes.
