When the 5 of Swords appears, it means that ego is an issue. For our purposes it?s the perfect card this week because so much of the emphasis has been on following the spiritual guides. Not one to be outdone, it?s little wonder that the ego wants its say. It is an integral part of our psyche. The ego is essential to our wellbeing because it is crucial to the development of our self-esteem. However, the ego must be in balance with our higher guides. As beings in the material realm it?s not practical to live a purely spiritual existence. Likewise, a life devoid of any form of spirituality can prove unsatisfying. Our task is to rein in the ego and allow it to work in step with our spiritual self. In this way we promote an emotional balance.
