Slippery Patch becoming a potent force in Greyhound Racing
Slippery Patch started off his greyhound racing campaign decently, but it took some time before he really got into the position to be competitive against the best in the business at the highest level of the sport.
He has now become one of the most consistent performers in Grade OR events and will definitely make his team proud in some major events in the years to come. He is still quite young and has the energy to be competitive at any level.
The young greyhound made his debut with a solo run at Shelbourne Park and his speed looked pretty much impressive. However, this was not enough for him to justify his talent and he needed to compete in graded events in order to prove his mettle.
In June 2011, the talented runner appeared in one Grade A4 race, where he was given very high odds by the bookmakers. There were some other talented hounds up against him, but he looked in better shape compared to all of them.
Slippery Patch started that race from trap number five and he had to cover an overall distance of 525 yards. He did not have any stamina issues and finished on top of the table comfortably in the end. The margin of his victory was seven lengths, which proved that he was capable of fighting in higher classes.
With the passage of time, the K. Hutton?s trained hound went onto compete in Grade OR events and the results were really good for him in them. However, he struggled against some better runners in important races, which was a bit concerning for his team.
Top Honcho?s son out of Steamy Windows was the clear favourite on a couple of occasions, but he let his team down because of pressure. Despite that, he kept on learning a few lessons and did not repeat the mistakes, which he used to make in the past.
This helped the black and white dog develop into a fierce challenger and no can afford to take him lightly at any level of greyhound racing. He likes running on longer distance events and his team should keep on testing him in such competitions, where he can finish with his head held high.?
